It’s heritage day & we’re dedicating today to be proud of where we come from. But, to be honest, I think this happens every day. Everyday – online& offline, young people are being unapologetic in their love for culture & being traditional. Now, we’re being more authentic in our own spaces & not fitting into a box (means I can be religious and enjoy a Latina dance party too). I’m pakka Andhra (I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before), but , I can appreciate bhajans In Gujarati, Tamil & Hindi. We have a “you do you , I do me boo” attitude towards each other … and , it’s liberating
.We’re not “shy” of our roots, actually, we’re encouraging each other to express more authentically. VERY IMPORTANT for us young people to remember, we’re not the FUTURE leaders, we’re the PRESENT leaders.
